2 people have been confirmed dead and 8 others in the hospital after drinking tea at a wedding ceremony in Kano State.
This tea is prepared with a local leaf which is popularly called Zakami. Thus tea was mixed with other drugs.
They drank it at a wedding ceremony which took place in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
It was Mr Usman Musa Zakari who is the ward head of the area, that confirmed this news to journalists yesterday.
He revealed the names of the two people who sadly passed away which are Mubarak Bala and Ibrahim Khalil.
He said this tea made from a local leaf called Zakami was mixed with a combination of other drugs.
He mentioned how there were different stories or versions of these stories flying around but he confirmed 2 people died and 8 had been hospitalized.
He revealed that those who had been hospitalized had now been discharged.
SP Abdullahi Haruna who is the spokesperson of Kano State Police Command said that no formal report was made to the police but he would make enquiries.
