In a statement released by the Anambra Police Command, their spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that the command has rescued four children who were kidnapped by suspected herdsmen. He narrated when and how the Police reacted after receiving the news that some kids were kidnapped at Achalla Village, Enugwu Agidi, located in Njikoka LGA.

Tochukwu said that the command received the news about the sudden abduction of four kids from a family on the 15th of December, 2023 around 11 pm. The mother of the abducted kids said they were watching a movie around 10 pm when the lights suddenly went off.

Immediately after that occurred, the woman and her husband went out to see what had caused the sudden light off. When they got outside, they spotted three gunmen who were suspected to be herdsmen and quickly fled for safety without going back into their home.

By the time they returned to the house, their four kids aged 13, 14, 21, and 21, who were soundly asleep were nowhere to be found and it dawned on them that the innocent children had been kidnapped.

DSP Tochukwu said the children were found on December 16, around Urum, which was roughly 25 kilometers from Achala Village. They have reunited with their parents and the suspected kidnappers are on the run.

He added that the state commissioner of Police has issued a warning to those involved in kidnapping innocent humans that when caught, their punishment will surpass that of those involved in robbery.
