Evans, apparently struggling with cramps, was subbed off after the hour mark. Rashford played 10 minutes after Evans was subbed off before being hurled off as well.

Manchester United are already grappling with an enduring injury crisis since the beginning of the season. Adding Rashford and Evans to the piling injury lists would deepen the club's injury woes.

There have been concerns among Man United fans the club may sweat with a double injury blow involving Rashy and Evans following their removal from the Man City match.

Speaking after the 3-1 defeat to City, Erik ten Hag confirmed Evans and Marcus Rashford were hurled off the game due to injury concerns.

The Dutch revealed the pair were already battling with fitness issues before the crunch tie with Manchester City. He added he decided to remove them from the game to prevent a complication of the fitness issues.

"Rashy had a great game and would have continued till the end but we had to sub him off because of fitness issues. Evans was struggling for his fitness so we have to hurl him off. They are now placed on monitoring by the medical team."

Erik ten Hag has grappled with a piling injury crisis which has taken a toll on the team's fortunes this season. Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw, and Anthony Martial, are battling injury in the Red Devils squad.

A blow to Rashford and Evans could compound the club's injury crisis amidst an underwhelming Premier League and European campaign.

While United's injury woes have contributed to the club's dwindling fortunes this season, Erik ten Hag has been partly blamed as well for his lack of pattern and tactical incompetence.

Following the loss to City, United's Champions League hopes next season has suffered a big blow as they have fallen 11 points behind Aston Villa in 4th place on the table
