FIIRO workers protest over unpaid promotion entitlement due to them for four years

Staff of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) in Oshodi have poured out their frustration over their unpaid promotion entitlement. This payment hasn't been processed for over four years and the workers are complaining about how hard the hardship in the country has hit them.

Workers were paid their promotion entitlement until Alhaji Gambo Magaji was inaugurated in October 2021. Since then, he has discontinued the promotion exercise that was consistently conducted by the former board in July 2021. Nigeria being a religious nation, the staff members reportedly held fasting and prayer sessions to restore their promotion exercise.

One of the staff workers who pleaded anonymity narrated how the management responded to her question regarding the unpaid promotion entitlement, which wasn't in a pleasant way. When she approached them, she was told not to complain because her promotion just happened last year. The management added that those who hadn't received their entitlements for over three years were still there. Therefore, she should exercise patience because the top management is still working on it.
