Fire burns section of University college hospital (UCH), Ibadan

News of a fire outbreak was reported in the earlier house of Saturday at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan Oyo State. Fire burned a section of the College Hospital very early on Saturday morning g.

The fire however only affected a section of the building in the hospital premises. There were emergency responders at the scene of the fire and they were able to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading more and causing more damage.

The University College Hospital (UCH) was established in 1952 which is 4 years after the University of Ibadan itself was established. The institution was established in 1948 and the college Hospital for the institution came 4 years after.

The authorities of the University College Hospital mentioned during the heat of the incident that there was no cause for alarm. They shared that the fire had only afflicted a section and it had been put off.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UCH who is Professor Abiodun Otegbayo share some information about the incident to some newsmen. He shared that the Hospital authorities alerted three different fire services when the incident occured and they responded to the scene and put off the fire.

He shared that the fire had affected a part of the the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and one of the theatres. He also added that no patient was caught in the fire which affected these areas.

He then assured the patients and their families that they have everything under control now. He says they have resumed their medical services and have made used of some alternative means to carry then out.
