The minister of interior called upon all Muslims in Nigeria and the diaspora. He urged them to pray for peace in the country. This was after he congratulated them and wished for a joyous celebration home and abroad.

In his words

As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains one united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible entity, noting that no development can take place in an acrimonious environment.
With the challenges we face in Nigeria today, I see an opportunity for us not to break up or break down, but to break open; open up to ourselves in truth so that we may appreciate each other, understand each other, honor each other and live together in peace and prosperity.”

Muslims are required to celebrate this event by sacrificing an animal (Ram) which will further cement the sacrifice made by the Prophet Ibrahim. In other words, the Eid el-Kabir is a joyous celebration that will involve lots of food and drinks by Muslims. The celebration will also pave way for the awaited big salah celebration which is set on the same date.
