Police arrest woman who set a policewoman and her children on fire.
The police in Anambra State have arrested a woman who set a policewoman and her children on fire. This woman has been identified as Nnaemaka Nwosu.
This incident occurred on Sunday and this was at Nnokwa community in Idemili South Local Government Area.
The woman is divorced from her husband and has no home to stay. This policewoman has offered her a place to stay in her house. This was after the suspect approached her about her situation.
A witness in the area said there had been a fight while led to to this suspect hitting the police with a pestle. The policewoman then became unconscious.
This woman then tied the policewoman and her children together with rope inside their room and then set them ablaze.
The victims got burnt to death. The woman was then apprehended by some local vigilante who came by. Some other villagers were also there and helped apprehend her. The fire had attracted them to the scene.
She was caught before she could escape. She then lied that the woman and children died when the gas cylinder exploded while they were trying to boil water.
She eventually confessed to this crime.
The spokesperson of the Anambra State Police, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, has been able to confirmed the incident.
He said they have transferred the case to
State Criminal Investigation Department for more investigation.
They have also taken the burnt corpses to the mortuary. He said they will communicate further instructions.
