President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official change of names for the list of Nigerian airports in the country.
This, according to reports, was done to uphold the great work and contributions some notable individuals have made to the development of the country and the aviation industry as well.
Here are the details of the renamed airports:
The Akure Airport was renamed after Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu who was the past president of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Benin Airport was renamed after Oba Akenzua II, the late Oba of Benin from 1933-1978.
Dutse Airport in Jigawa was renamed after Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi, the late Emir of Dutse.
Ebonyi Airport was renamed after late Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo, the 8th Senate President from 1999 to 2000.
Gombe Airport was renamed after late Brigadier Zakari Maimalari.
Ibadan Airport was renamed after renowned politician, late Samuel Ladoke Akintola.
Ilorin Airport was renamed after late Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, the deputy head of state during the Buhari 1983-1985 regime.
