Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois's season is summarily over after he left Belgium training session in tears with a a fresh injury setback.

According to Goal, the 31-year-old, who was called up by Belgium for March international break, had to leave the team's first training session after he picked up a knee injury.

Marca affirms that Courtois tore the internal meniscus of his right knee and is literally ruled out of the rest of the season.

The Real Madrid first-choice goalie is set to miss two months of action due to the fresh injury blow; meaning he is not likely to feature for Real Madrid again this season.

While the torn meniscus in Courtois right is said to be close to ACL injury for which he has been sidelined throughout the start of the season, it has been confirmed the new injury is not an ACL.

However, the prolific shotstopper will reportedly need surgery to recover.

Thibaut Courtois' fresh injury setback is coming at a time he was about returning to action with Real Madrid after recovering from ACL injury.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Thibaut Courtois will be ready for club action with Real Madrid after the international break.

Now, the latest report on the fresh injury blow means the Los Blancos will have to wait for two more months before having Thibaut Courtois back.

This means the LaLiga title hopefuls will have to continue with Andriy Lunin to stand in for Courtois.

Courtois will miss Real Madrid's remaining LaLiga fixtures, including the Champions League quarterfinal cracker against Manchester City next month.

He is also likely to be ruled out of 2024 Euros set to kick off in June.
