University of Ibadan and others set cut-off mark at 200

The University of Ibadan and some other Universities have set their cut off mark at 200.

This mark is the cutoff for admissions into the university. It's the minimum score that must be attained during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to gain admission.

Other universities who also have this include Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Benin, and the University of Lagos. These 4 are Federal Universities and they are the ones who have set this cutoff mark.

Recall that all institutions were told to declare their cut off marks for their admission process and this was before the 2023 policy meeting which was held by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

About 7 institutions in Nigeria had declared their cutoff marks to be 200. Out of these 7 universities, 4 were federal universities as we have listed earlier.

At the 2023 policy meeting, the Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities that were at the meeting had agreed on 140 as the cutoff mark for admissions. This is for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Regardless, these universities have a choice to set their own cutoff mark which can be higher than this. The only comma to this is that no university can set their mark below 140. The least cut off mark is 140 for admissions.

It was the JAMB registrar, Prof.Ishaq Oloyede who revealed this.

The scores for polytechnics differ from universities as well as colleges of education.
Polytechnic and college of education can set theirs as low as 100 and that's the minimum.
