The University of Ibadan, Oyo State has increased their hostel accommodation fee for the new session. In previous sessions, the school hostels paid a sum of N30,000 for accommodation which has now been increased to N45,000.
They revealed that the new students ABH in UCH are to pay N60,000 while the returning students will pay #45,000.

The Education Rights Campaign (ERC), which is a civic organisation then called on the students reject this increase in the accommodation fee.
ERC condemned this saying the economic situation in the country due to the hike in fuel prices and removal of subsidy is posing hardship already to the people.

They released a statement which was titled "UI: ERC rejects the increment in the accommodation fee and demands immediate reversal," It was the ERC's Coordinator, Comrade Ben Taffee who signed this document.
According to them, there is no justification for the increment for accommodation fees to over 100%.

They Said "As far as we are concerned in the ERC, there is no basis for a hike in the accommodation fee. All halls of residence remain in the same despicable condition as they were before students were asked to proceed at the end of the session break a few weeks ago. The fact that the previous hike in accommodation fee failed woefully to translate into any meaningful improvement in the living condition within the halls of residence is a clear indication that the current hike is not also going to guarantee any concrete improvement in the facilities and living condition of students within the halls of residence".
