The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) chapter at Federal Polytechnic Kazaure in Jigawa has suspended all academic activity for two weeks.

In a press statement, Chairman Dr Abdul'azeez Ibrahim Badaru declared this. ASUP called off its strike on June 10th, 2021, after reaching a deal with the federal government.

If the federal government fails to keep its commitments, ASUP has asked its members to be ready to stop working at any time.

The release of N15 billion for the revitalization of polytechnics and monotechnics, as well as payment of minimum wage arrears, the inauguration of the governing council, and the pay as you earn liability issue, are all part of the deal.

However, ASUP's National Executive Council (NEC) agreed on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to go on a two-week warning strike beginning today in protest of the federal government's failure to keep its promises.

Badaru stated that the decision was made in accordance with NEC directives.

As a result, he urged all stakeholders and well-intentioned folks to back the union's demands so that those in power do the right thing.

Badaru also asked parents and kids to be patient, saying that strike action is the union's only option.
