Three members of the Anambra State Albinism Association (ASAA) died of skin cancer in the last five months, according to the ASAA.

In an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Awka on June 13 to celebrate International Albinism Awareness Day, Miss Vivian Ezeonwumelu, President of ASAA, revealed this.

On December 18, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared International Albinism Knowledge Day to improve public awareness of albinism-related issues and to combat marginalization and stigma.

The subject of this year's anniversary is "Together to Make Our Voice Heard." Most people with albinism (PWA) do not have access to therapy, according to Ezeonwumelu, because of poverty, misinformation, myths, and misconceptions concerning albinism.

Her skin pigment is sensitive to skin cancer, hair, and eye problems, according to her, due to a lack of melanin. Encouraged the state government to establish a health-care program for albinos in order to reduce the number of individuals dying from skin cancer.
