1 die and 3 missing as Seplat Oil Rig Collapses In Delta state
One person has been confirmed dead in the recent incident which occurred at Seplat oil rig in Delta State. 3 people have also been declared missing from this incident.
A Seplat oil rig collapsed in Delta State recently leading to the death of one worker. There were many crew members on the rig at the time it collapsed. A total of 96 people were there and 92 persons have been accounted for as safe remaining 4 persons, 1 of which is dead and the other 3 are missing.
This incident occurred yesterday, Wednesday August 16 2023. Seplat Energy Plc recalled that one of their crew members passed away in this incident near Ovhor in Delta State.
They shared this in a statement which was released on their twitter handle yesterday.
The company wrote "Seplat Energy regrets to announce a serious incident on the Depthwise swamp drilling rig "Majestic" in the early hours of today. We will provide further details as our understanding of the incident develops. A detailed investigation into the cause of the accident will follow"
They shared that their thoughts and prayers are with the family of the crew member who lost his life in the incident.
They shared that emergence and rescue efforts are still ongoing to locate the 3 missing crew members.
