10 oil thieves in possession of 100 jerry cans arrested by Nigerian Navy

10 men who are oil thieves have been arrested by the Nigerian Navy in Lagis state recently. These men were found with 100 Jerry cans and they were arrested while trying to steal crude oil from Lagos port.

The Nigerian Navy arrested these thieves on Sunday and this was early in the day around 2am. They arrested them at the Single Point Mooring buoy. Here, Tankers would unload their products in this place before it is distributed.

These thieves had been in 3 speedboats having 100 50-litre jerry cans with them. They also had hoses in the Jerry cans which were connected so that they could drain the oil from the storage.

The suspects have been paraded and It was the Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Kolawale Oguntuga who paraded them at the NNS Beecroft Naval Base parade ground.

They have also handed them over to the Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and also the Civil Defence Corps.
The commander revealed that they had arrested these men and how they got to know about their criminal activities.

He revealed “In the early hours of Sunday, the technology electronically detected intruders on board the SBM operated by the NNPCL. Immediately a patrol team was activated and on getting there, 10 suspected vandals and oil thieves were found onboard this facility with divers equipment; pumping machines and hoses to steal crude products, and they were apprehended"
