14 passengers injured in Ogun state auto crash

About 14 passengers were injured in an auto crash which occured in Ogun state recently. This accident occured at Magboro Junction on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway just yesterday, Sunday August 27 2023.

It was a multiple accident which involved 3 vehicles. The accident happened around 8:30am on Sunday. The accident occured when the Mazda bus had crashed into a commercial bus at this junction. The Mazda vehicle ran into the bus from behind and this caused the other vehicle to lose control and fall to a slope leading to a bigger crash.

Some eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident revealed that the media had crashed into the yellow commercial bus damaging the bus badly. The Mazda bus was filled with passengers and they had been speeding.

As soon as the yellow commercial bus was hit from behind, the bus fell towards a part of the junction which was sloopy. This sloppy area is where some Okada riders (commercial motorcycles) Station their bikes waiting for passengers.

The riders were grateful for their lives saying God had saved them from this accident as the bus had headed towards where they were stationed.
A witness revealed that the driver had been injured badly and his hands had been bruised. He said "The driver’s hand was badly injured and the bones on his hand were seen,”

Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were also spotted at the scene of the accident. They were there to pit the situation under control. The officers took the victims who had been injured in the crash away. They took them all to the hospital.

Luckily, there were no casualties in this auto accident. 21 passengers had been involved in the crash and 14 had sustained injuries while no life was lost.

It was the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who is Florence Okpe that revealed that there was no life lost In the incident.

She said, “No life was lost. It was a multiple crash and three vehicles were involved. The people involved were 21 in number, and 14 people got injured – eight males and six females. It was due to speeding and wrongful overtaking and one of the vehicles lost control.”
