14 people injured as BRT buses crash in Lagos state

A recent auto crash in Lagos state has led to 14 persons injured. These people sustained injuries when 2 BRT buses crashed in Lagos state. The incident pccured around 10am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. It was at the Bus Rapid Transport corridor which is at the Cement Bus Stop, in Valley Estate. This was on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

Thes BRT buses had collided which each other. The buses were severely damaged due to the impact of the crash. One of the buses had its windscreen completely damaged. 14 people sustained injuries. The crash was so serious it led to a traffic block for some hours.

It was the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who revealed this via their official Twitter account. They also revealed that it the officers of the Lagos State Police Command arrived later on and joined in the rescue efforts for the victims involved in the crash.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Babatunde Farinloye, spoke with some newsmen regarding the incident. He stated that the accident was caused by speeding on the part of the drivers. He disclosed that there was a total of 45 passangers in the vehicles involved in the accident.

He stated that were no casualties. nobody was killed in this accident. He disclosed that they have taken the victims to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. He went on to advice motorists to avoid excessive speeding so as to prevent further occurrences. He also shared that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have towed the vehicles away from the crash site.
