19 killed in Pakistan passenger train accident
At least 19 people have been confirmed dead in a recent train accident in Pakistan. This incident occurred today Sunday, August 6, 2023. This passenger train derailed leading to over 50 people injured and 19 dead.
This incident occurred in southern Pakistan. Many of the carriages overturned when the train derailed. This was near the Sahara railway station in Nawabshah.
The rescue team have begun their operations to remove the people who were trapped in the wreckage of this train. The injured passengers have been rescued and taken to nearby hospitals.
Some passengers were seen climbing out of the windows of the overturned carriages after the incident occured
It was the Railway Minister, who is Saad Rafiq who revealed that the investigation which was conducted into this accident revealed that this train had been traveling at normal speed. They are still trying to determine what went wrong to have caused this accident.
One of the railways spokesperson in Karachi revealed that at least 8 carriages derailed and went off the track.
