It appears the downward spiral of dismal results for Manchester United this season is not coming to an end soon.

After a horrific start to the season, United's best best performance was in November with three straight wins.

That month, United bagged a treble of Premier League awards with Erik ten Hag winning manager of the month, Harry Maguire smashing Player of the Month Award, and Alejandro Garnacho's bicycle kick Vs Everton as Goal of the Month.

The November renaissance was short-lived as the team returned to default settings with a shock home defeat to Bournemouth, including a bizarre exit from Champions League in the group stages.

However, they were able to salvage a point against Liverpool at Anfield but suffered setback in the next game against West Ham United with 2-0 defeat.

Following the loss to the Hammers, Manchester United have now recorded their worst start to a football season since 1930.

In 1930, Manchester United recorded 16 defeats in all competitions before Christmas. Since then, they have maintained a reasonably upbeat performances at the start of campaigns.

There have been slight departures from a optimal or good start but it hasn't been worse as the 1930 season.

This season, United have edged considerably close to the 1930 debacle. They have recorded 13 defeats in all competitions so far with 8 Premier League defeats, 4 Champions League defeat, and a defeat in EFL Cup.

As per APNews, United's 13th defeat so far this season is their worst start to a Premier League after the 1930 crisis when they were beaten 16 times before Christmas.

The stats are worrying for Man United fans who seemed concerned with the unceasing run of dismal results.

Unlike last season, Erik ten Hag seemed to have lost his magic wand. After a terrific start in Man United dugout, one would have expected the Dutch to build in his gains this season but the reverse is the case.

Coupled with series of injury crisis and dressing room fallouts, Erik ten Hag has struggled to assemble a formidable squad.

With the first lap of the league crossed, United can be ruled out of the Premier League title. They will be hoping for a top four finish this season as they sit 8th on the table with 28 points, 8 points adrift from too four.

Erik ten Hag will hope to return the team to winning ways on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.
