The first dose of the final group stage matches was witnessed on Tuesday night, December 12, 2023, with teams fighting for qualifications into the round of 16.

There are a host of teams that have already booked a spot in the knockout round, and many rotated their starting eleven to give much-needed rest to some players and playing time to those who haven't played much.

RC Lens 2:1 Sevilla

Group B's early kick-off saw French side Lens take on Spanish opposition Sevilla, the Lens team buoyed by their home support got the much-needed points as they defeated Sevilla 2:1 to secure a third spot with goals from Frankowski and a late match-winner from Fulgini on the 96th minutes.

Sevilla's solitary goal was scored by Sergio Ramos, with the Andalusian finishing bottom, the Spanish team wouldn't be able to get their hand on a record 9th Europa League trophy.

PSV 1: 1 Arsenal

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and PSV had nothing to play for as both sides had secured their spot in the Round of 16.

The Gunners made a host of changes that saw Mohammed Elneny, Cedric, Kiwior, and Reiss Nelson get their first championship league start.

The dead rubber game came to life 5 minutes before the break as Eddie Nketiah scored his maiden Champions League goal, while PSV's goal was scored five minutes into the second half by Vertesson.

The game ended 1:1 with both sides turning their focus to domestic games and the Round of 16.

FC Copenhagen 1: 0 Galatasaray

Copenhagen qualified for the Round of 16 for the second time in the club's history, with the Danish side knowing fully well that a draw would be enough to secure their passage to the Round of 16 as long as Manchester United avoided victory.

Both sides knew the risks at stake and played a cagey game but the Danish side broke the deadlock through Lerager on the 58th.
Galatasary boss made a host of changes to draw his side level but the Danish held on for a famous win.

Inter Milan 0:0 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad and Inter Milan were playing a game of who would top the Group D table with both sides level on 11 points with the Spanish team having a much better goal difference.

The contest was a cagey contest as both sides contained possession without really threatening each other's goal.

It was Marcus Thuram who went close with a bicycle kick that almost punished Imanol Aguacil's men.

The host's real threat was through Kubo who could only dive to secure a penalty only for the ref to overturn his initial decision.

The game ended 0:0 as Sociedad finished on top of Group D for the first time in over a decade.


Napoli 2:0 Braga

Napoli confirmed their place in the knockout round after seeing off Portuguese opponents Braga.

The Italian champions needed to defeat the Braga team with at least a two-goal margin and they did so in dominant fashion. The first goal coming through an own goal while newly crowned African best men player of the year Victor Osimhen scored his side second to book their spot in the round of 16.

Manchester United 0:1 Bayern Munich

Manchester United where knocked out of the Champions League as a late goal from Coman made sure the United team finished bottom of Group A.

Erik Ten Hag's side had a mountain to climb if they were to book a spot in the knockout round. They held their own in the first half as they limited the Germans to half chances.

But their resistance fell when Kingsley Coman scored in the 70th minute to knock out the Red Devils.

Union Berlin 2-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid came from behind to claim a great comeback victory against Union Berlin to end the German side's dream of qualifying for a Europa League spot.

It was Dani Ceballos who scored the crucial goal to seal a 3:2 victory over the German opposition.

RC Salzburg 1:3 SL Benfica

Benfica defeated Salzburg to overtake them and qualify for the Europa League.

The Portuguese team needed a win to remain in the Europa League and they did so with goals from Di Maria, Rafa Silva, and Authur Cabral sealing a famous win for the Portuguese team.
