Colombia V South Korea

In the first game at the Sydney Football stadium, Colombia came out victorious over the South koreans.

Two quick fire goals from Catalina Usme and Linda Caicedo in the first half condemned South Korea to a defeat.

Angelo Marsiglia side took the lead via a penalty on the 30th minute after shim, a defender for South Korea handled the ball in the box.

Shim was shown a yellow card and the resultant penalty was dispatched by Colombia's Catalina Usme.

Fast-forward 9 minutes later, The Powerpuff Girls doubled their advantage via a perfectly struck curler from Real Madrid's Femenino forward, Caicedo.

Only 2 yellow cards were shown in the game and they were all displayed in the first half to Carolina Aarias of Colombia and Seon-Joo Lim of South Korea in the 46th and 47th minute respectively.

New Zealand V Philippine

A remarkable day for the Philippines saw them produce a shocker by defeating co-host New Zealand.

Sarina Bolden netted the decisive goal in the encounter via a well directed header in the 24th minute.

That goal was the Filipinas first goal at the tournament and their first win ever at the FIFA World Cup.

Definitely, there will be a lot of happy faces all across the Philippines, seeing the feat they just hit.

Stunning the co-host in their 2nd game of the tournament, having lost their opening game to Switzerland by 2-0 is something they can be proud of.

There were also one yellow cards shown to either side respectively, with Hannah Wilkinson getting booked on the 42nd minute and Angela Beard of Philippine getting one in the second half.

Switzerland V Norway

The final game of the day couldn't produce a good as both side shared the spoils in an eagerly contested affair.

Switzerland, who are tutored by Inka Grings sit at the summit of Group A via their draw but for Croatia their woes are being compounded as they are the basement side in the Group.

Norway lost their opening game against New Zealand by 1-0 and that signifies that there is a lot to fight for in the final group encounter against Philippine.

Switzerland are almost home and dry regarding qualification as they need only a draw in their final group affair.

Coach Hege Riise would be doing everything she can to ensure that the Grasshoppers sneak out of the group to the next round.

The tournament continues to heat up as teams continue to fight for points which will ensure their qualification to the next round.

There are also several games slated for tomorrow,with Canada squaring up against Ireland, Japan battling the Costa Ricans and Spain trading tackles with Babra Banda's Zambia.
