Popular Nigerian singer 2face has shared that detecting cancer early would have saved the life of the late Sound Sultan. 2face is a well known Nigerian musician whose full name is Innocent Ujah Idibia. He is popularly known as 2face or 2Baba.
2face recently spoke about his late friend Sound Sultan while on the latest episode of the Afrobeats podcast. He was speaking to Adesope Olajide who is a popular media personality.
2face and Sound Sultan were very good friends before Sound Sultan passed away 2 years ago. Sound Sultan died in 2021 after a battle with a form of cancer known as Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. This is a cancer of the throat.
2face shares that if they had detected the cancer earlier, his friend may not have died. He shared that when Sound sultan fell sick they originally thought it was malaria. He revaled that the diagnosis of his illness was late.
During the interview he had also described Sound Sultan as one of the best people he had ever known. He revealed that the diagnosis of his friend's sickness was late but didn't want to say too much about it. He knows for a fact that if the diagnosis of his cancer had come earlier, treatment would have been much easier to.
He said “For a long time, I did not want to accept that fact, it was like a joke. The diagnosis was late. We thought it was malaria, he did tests in Nigeria. But I don’t want to get into all that.”
Sound Sultan died on July 11, 2021. He was 44 years old when he passed away in the US.
