The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II dies at 81.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde broke the news yesterday that the King passed away on Thursday, 14th March 2024. He died at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan after a brief illness.
Oba Lekan Balogun was born on 18th October, 1942. He ascended the throne on 11th March 2022 after succeeding Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Oguguniso III who died on 2nd January 2022. Oba Adetunji reigned for 6 years, from 4th March 2016 to 2nd January 2022. Oba Lekan Balogun reigned for two years (2022-2024). He will be buried on 16th March 2024 according to Islamic rites.
The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olakukehin will be crowned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan following the death of Oba Lekan Balogun on Thursday.
