The father of Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, has claimed that his son is not happy with the goalkeeping situation at the club after losing his place in goal to on-loan goalie David Raya.

Ramsdale, who was previously the number one shot-stopper at Arsenal, has been displaced to the bench by Raya.

In the early days of this present reality, Aaron Ramsdale took being second fiddle to David Raya as a challenge.

However, it has become a worry to him as it appears he has lost his place in the starting XI of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta earlier this season also claimed that his decision to bench Ramsdale in some matches was due to tactical reasons.

In subsequent matches afterward, it has become evident that David Raya is now the first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsdale being used in cup matches.

Anyway, this hasn't been taken in a good light by Ramsdale, whose father has revealed that his son has “lost that smile”.

Aaron Ramsdale's father also looks to have gotten the memo that his son is going to be utilized majorly in cup matches.

He said: “Aaron's lost that smile. He is going to be the cup goalkeeper, and Raya is going to be the main man.

“The way it's been done, in my eyes, it's wrong.”

Aaron Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United on August 20, 2021, for a fee of €28 million.

The only solution to this brewing crisis could be Ramsdale exiting the Gunners possibly in the 2024 January transfer window.

Recent reports have indicated that Chelsea and Bayern Munich are interested in signing the Englishman and he could be in for a shock move to either of both clubs.

Aaron Ramsdale had a remarkable season in goal for Arsenal last season, amassing 14 clean sheets in 38 league appearances.

In the season before that, the 2021/22 campaign, he recorded 12 clean sheets in 34 league matches.

Ramsdale has made some notable howlers in the past but that doesn't diminish the quality that he possesses.

Unfortunately, it will not be an easy task for him to secure back the number one role at Arsenal, with David Raya and delivering impactful performances in goal for Mikel Arteta's side.

Raya, who joined the Gunners on loan from Brentford on August 15, 2023, for a fee of €3 million has made 12 appearances for the club and recorded 6 clean sheets in the process.

David Raya, despite being on loan, might not leave Arsenal at the end of the season, as there is a buyout clause inserted in his deal.

This could see him permanently join the North London side at the end of the 2023/24 season and he could be there for a long time to come.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale has made 85 appearances for Arsenal, keeping 31 clean sheets so far.
