Actor RMD invited to join Oscars Voting Academy
Popular Nigerian actor, RMD has been invited to join the Oscars voting Academy.
His real name is Richard Mofe-Damijo but he is known popularly as RMD.
He is a 61 year old actor, lawyer and producer.
He has shared his excitement and joy over the invitation to join the Oscars voting Academy.
He and 3 other Nigerians were invited. It's the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts, and Sciences. This is the parent body of the Oscars Award.
Others who were invited include Jade Osiberu who is a popular nollywood director, Kunle Afolayan and C.J “Fiery” Obasi
The Academy shared the News of the invitation just recently and this was on Wednesday. They shared a list containing 398 people who are distinguished artists and executives that are joining them this year, 2023.
They revealed that they made their selections based on their professional qualifications. They also included how committed they are to representation, inclusion and equity.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Academy Bill Kramer and also the President Janet Yang released a joint statement.
They revealed how proud the Academy is to welcome their new members.
They mentioned how these people are extraordinary talents and have made crucial impacts in the arts and sciences of motion pictures.
RMD reacted to this and said this was his best birthday present which is coming early.
He revealed that he was seeing the congratulatory messages but didn’t know what was going on.
