Popular Nollywood actor, Wales Ojo has claimed that modern day Nollywoodactors are fake. He is of the opinion that the modern actors are more of “fake acting” than realness.

Wale Ojo is a British Nigerian actor. He was born in London, England. He became very popular after his role in the movie titled The hard case in 1995. He has acted in other nollywood movies like Phone swap, kasanova, this lady called life.

He shared his opinion on modern day actors during a recent interview with Hip TV.
He believes realness was the mark of the older actors but said the more recent actors have prioritised “fake acting” above the naturalness or realness of acting.

He said “When I used to watch the old Nollywood, those were the stories that used to excite me. Those are Ramsey Noah’s flicks, Rita Dominic, Pete Edochie, Omotola Jalade, Genevieve Nnaji. The stories were really good. The acting was great"

He shared that he knows things have changed from how they used to be, especially in this age of artificial intelligence. He said the modern actors have now taken to more artificial acting over the realness present in the older nollywood films.

He said "perhaps, they have taken on more of artificial acting rather than realness which was there and which you actually find more in Yoruba movies, by the way"

He went ahead to list some other veteran actors that he would watch in those days like Hubert Ogundes, Jide Kosoko, Baba Suwe, Papilolo. He says "These were real hard core veterans at that time"
He shared that things have changed for the better and some things have also changed for the worse. He says he has this feeling of nostalgia for wanting to go back to the old Nollywood.

He then added that "The wonderful thing would be to marry that old Nollywood now with new Nollywood so that it is a marriage that would please our audiences.”
