The three-time African champions' preparations have been hampered by a few absences, but the captain believes his squad has the experience to triumph in Cameroon.
The Super Eagles' captain, Ahmed Musa, feels his team's experience would aid them in winning the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles will vie for Africa's most coveted football trophy in Cameroon.
Despite a few withdrawals, Nigeria, the three-time AFCON champion, still has enough experienced players on its squad compared to 2019, when they finished third after a painful Semi-final loss to Algeria.
In 2019, the Nigerian team managed by Gernot Rohr went to Egypt with just three players who had previously featured in the AFCON: Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa, and Kenneth Omeruo.
However, because the bulk of Eguavoen's players competed in the last AFCON, the scenario is different this year.
And captain Musa believes it will benefit them in the Nations Cup.
“Experience is gonna help us a lot,” Musa said in the Super Eagles press conference.
“In Egypt, we had only two players that had been in the AFCON- me and Omeruo, and we finished in the third position. And with the experience that we have, we know African football.”
“We have to keep that fantastic football at home, we just have to go all out, and with the experience that we had in Egypt, I know that we are gonna do what we are expected to do.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have won the African title on three occasions namely; 1980,1994 and 2013.
On Wednesday, the Super Eagles are slated to leave Nigeria for Cameroon. They kick off their campaign against Egypt on Tuesday of next week.
