The Super Eagles caption Ahmed Musa has pleaded with Nigerians to stop the cyberbullying Alex Iwobi. He shared a statement on behalf of the team urging fellow Nigerians to stop unleashing their anger on someone who tried his best in the just concluded AFCON 2023. He added that cyberbullying is a serious crime and a violation of decency, hence it needs to stop.

He said that it is unfair and unjust to blame just one person for the shortcomings of the team. When the team won, all members were celebrated and that should remain the case after the team lost. Musa believes that it is "hypocritical to say football unites us while engaging in such a behavior."

Moral support and encouragement are all that the Super Eagles need at this critical time because it isn't easy for them as well. Musa then concluded his statement by urging Nigerians to uplift each other both in victory and in defeat.
