The 32-year-old was on a four-year contract signed in 2019 which made him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world with a weekly of £375,000.
Now, Manchester United under new manager Erik Ten Hag slashed De Gea's wage offer to £200,000 in the club's new contract proposal.
David De initially refused to sign the contract due to the reduced paycheck but later signed the deal before his contract expired.
However, Manchester United refused to assent to the deal in a shock after the Spaniard signed it.
The club instead returned with a new offer worth a further reduced wage earning from the £200,000 weekly wage they offered.
