Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has taken all his Instagram Posts hours after Nigeria lost the 2023 AFCON final to Cote D'Ivoire in Abidjan.

Iwobi, 22, started the Super Eagles AFCON final cracker against Ivory Coast on Sunday. He was subbed off in the second half with Moses Simon coming after an apparently underwhelming performance.

In a match in which the Super Eagles were overran and overwhelmed by the spirited and determined efforts of the Ivoriens, Iwobi was largely blamed for a subpar delivery which is believed to have contributed to the Super Eagles' defeat.

Some fans trended the player on social media after the match pointing out his glaring blunders that led to the loss.

A few hours after the online troll, it was discovered that all of Iwobi's posts on Instagram were gone with only one video left.

Before the match against Ivory Coast, Iwobi's Instagram page was intact with his over 80 posts. Now, all the posts have been taken down leaving only one post.

It has been learned the Fulham player deleted those posts apparently in response to the heavy backlash that has clogged his table after the AFCON defeat to Cote D'Ivoire.

The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to the Ivoriens, who, buoyed by a roaring home crowd, dominated proceedings from start to finish. Nigeria captain William-Troost Ekong gave the Super Eagles the lead in the first half through a header from a corner-kick before the Elephants fought back brilliantly in the second half to grab a comeback victory.

Franck Kessie opened the scoring for the hosts, heading home from a corner-kick before Sebastian Haller scored beauty with his back-foot from Simon Adingra's cross.

It ended 2-1 in favor of the Ivoriens, who comfortably dispatched the Super Eagles to clinch their third AFCON trophy.
