Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo has liked a social media post asking him to leave Manchester United after he was dropped off the club's matchday squad against Newport County in the FA Cup.

Diallo, 21, did not make Erik ten Hag's bench as Manchester United traded tackles with Newport County in FA fourth-round clash on Sunday, January 28.

United's fast-rising young gun Kobbie Mainoo opened his Manchester United goal account in the game while Antony, who has endured a difficult second season with the Red Devils, finally found the back of the net, including an assist. Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund added to the tally as United ran out with a deserved 4-2 win to book a slot in the last eight of the competition.

While the likes of Mainoo, Antony, and Holjund, leveraged the encounter to consolidate their place in Erik ten Hag's squad, Diallo was nowhere to be found.

The Ivorien, who recently returned from the sidelines after a lengthy injury layoff, has been struggling to nail down a permanent spot in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup.

He has made only one appearance for the club this season. Diallo spent last season on loan to second-division side Sunderland, where he starred for the club, netting 14 times in 42 appearances.

He has dropped down Erik ten Hag's attacking options. After being axed out of the Newport County match, a Sunderland fan took to X to ask Diallo to come back to Sunderland where he will play regular football instead of struggling to nail down a spot at United.

The fan wrote;

"Here, Amad Diallo - if they’re not going to start you in the FA Cup away at Newport County it isn’t worth you giving them your time.

''Come home, come somewhere you are truly appreciated . . .'.

In an apparent protest of his dwindling fortunes at Old Trafford, Diallo liked the post and deleted it thereafter.

Diallo joined Manchester United in 2021 for £37m on a five-year contract. With two years left on his deal, the 21-year-old could be open to a move away from the club to breathe life into his career.

Despite his Man United misfortunes, the Ivorien youngster is still tipped for a brilliant career if allowed to taste regular action. Diallo was instrumental in Sunderland's qualification for Championship playoffs last season. He has been linked to a loan return to the club.
