Apple CEO Hints at New MacBook Air Launch With Cryptic Teaser
Apple (AAPL) may be gearing up for a new product launch, and this time, it’s likely not an iPhone.
On Monday, CEO Tim Cook posted a cryptic teaser on X, featuring a six-second video with the message “There’s something in the AIR” and the text “This week.” While Cook didn’t provide further details, industry insiders widely speculate that Apple is preparing to unveil a new MacBook Air—possibly powered by the M4 chip announced in May.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed the anticipation, stating, “The M4 MacBook Air unveiling is imminent.” Other tech publications, including 9to5Mac, ZDNET, and Forbes, have echoed similar expectations.
The teaser’s wording draws parallels to Apple’s original MacBook Air launch in 2008, further fueling speculation about an updated model.
Macs currently account for about 7% of Apple’s revenue, which includes products like the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac. If the rumored launch happens, it would follow the recent debut of Apple’s latest smartphone, the iPhone 16e.
Despite the buzz, Apple shares fell 1.6% on Monday, as part of a broader market selloff.
