Popular singer Aretha Franklin’s will was discovered underneath a sofa cushion In her home in Michigan. This will was discovered a few months after her death. The discovery of this will had led to a clash between her sons.

Aretha Louise Franklin was her full name and she was an American singer.

She is well known as the Queen of Soul. She had over 75 million records of global sales in her time. She is one of the world's best-selling music artists.

She was born in 1942 and passed away on the 16th of August in 2018. She died from pancreatic cancer and she was 76 years at the time of her death.

As at the time of death, she didn't have a known will and she was extremely wealthy.

A Few months after her death, a will was found under a sofa cushion In her home in Detroit.
It was a handwritten will that was found and this will has been ruled as valid by the jury.

A jury had met to determine which documents will be ruled as valid and they have finally deemed this will which was found under the sofa as the valid one.

Originally, after the singer's death, the absence of a will was meant to be that all her assets be divided equally among her sons. She has 4 sons.

This had led to a clash as one of the sons said that it was a document which was found in a locked document was the real one while 2 others said it was the one found under the cushion that was the real one.
It was found inside a spiral notebook inside the sofa in the living room.

The document that was found in a locked cabinet was dated 2010 while the one under the cushion was dated 2014.

The singer's eldest child, Clarence Franklin, was not involved in this clash as he lives in an assisted living facility in Michigan.

The trial lasted 2 days and they came to a conclusion that this will was valid. This is putting an end to the longstanding dispute among her sons.
