Arsenal great Freddie Ljungberg is unconvinced regarding Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League.
Ljungberg speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football expressed his doubts about the Gunners' title-winning credentials.
Arsenal currently sit at the summit of the English Premier League table, with 30 points from 13 league matches.
However, it is worth noting that the Gunners haven't been as menacing as they were last season.
Their attacking department have all produced low numbers thus far this campaign, and Freddie Ljungberg believes this could be a cause for concern as the campaign progresses.
Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus have not been firing on all cylinders like they were last campaign.
Sharing his thoughts on Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League, Ljungberg said:
“I think definitely they’re ready to challenge for the title, but the stats here are quite telling and I don’t think they work in their favour.”
The Gunners finished as runners-up to Manchester City in the 2022/23 league season, despite being at the summit of the log for most spells of the campaign.
However, they capitulated when it mattered most and allowed the Cityzens, to grab the title away from their sight.
Freddie Ljungberg feels Arsenal can challenge for the Premier League crown, but believes it will be a daunting task dethroning Manchester City.
The North London side have conceded the fewest amount of goals this season (10), but have had to pick up hard-fought 1-0 victories in their first 13 league matches.
Arsenal will be hoping to consolidate their grip on the top spot, when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next Premier League encounter on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Meanwhile, before the game, the Gunners will trade tackles with RC Lens in their penultimate Group game of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season.
Arsenal have amassed 9 points from 4 group matches, and are nearly all but guaranteed a spot in the next round of the competition.
In the reverse fixture against RC Lens, Mikel Arteta's side lost 2-1, despite racing into an early lead in France.
The North London side will be looking to make right their wrongs in this encounter, and also secure progression to the Round of 16.
Arsenal made impressive reinforcements during the summer, signing several players, including; Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber.
Rice has been the standout player out of these signings, with Kai Havertz yet to meet up to expectations, while Timber is currently out with a long-term injury.
Anyway, Havertz scored the defining goal for the Gunners in their encounter against Brentford, and Arsenal supporters will be hoping that he can reach the heights they expect of him.
Nearly all the players must deliver for the club this season, for them to have a chance at claiming the Premier League title.
