Arsenal's attacking department appears to have backpedaled in performance and noticeably in numbers, particularly in the Premier League.

The Gunners quartet of Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Bukayo Saka were breathtaking in the 2023/24 season, churning up magnificent numbers.

However, this campaign, they have failed to reach those heights thus far, with a significant disparity in what they did last season being noticed.

Looking at the attacking contributions of Martinelli last campaign, the Brazilian pumped in 15 goals, with a 19% conversion rate.

Gabriel Martinelli hit excellent heights last season and you can attribute Arsenal's relative success last term to the brilliance of their attackers.

Martinelli has netted only 2 goals this term, and you wouldn't need any sought of prescribed glasses to know that his shot conversion rate has also dropped. It has deepened to 6%.

Martin Odegaard, the captain leading Mikel Arteta's lads on the pitch, also scored 15 goals in the previous campaign.

The former Real Madrid man had a shot conversion rate of 16%, a stark disparity from the 10% conversion rate this campaign, with just 4 goals scored.

Bukayo Saka, who was firing on all cylinders last campaign and got lots of plaudits for his immense contributions to the Gunners attack is also suffering a deep in form.

His 14 goals scored last season were sublime, as he netted instrumental goals even against the traditional top 6 teams.

Saka had a 16% shot conversion rate in the 2022/23 season, but even though his shot conversion rate hasn't significantly dropped this term, as it is 12%, his goals tally for the 2023/24 season is currently 6.

Gabriel Jesus was injured at some point last season, however, despite the injury, he still scored 11 league goals.

His shot conversion rate was 14%, and he turned up at some difficult moments for Arsenal last season.

The Brazil international has scored just 3 goals this term, with a conversion rate of 9%, and indeed it begs the question, what is the reason for the low output?

Cumulatively, Arsenal's fiery and blazing attacking setup of Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Jesus produced 55 goals in the 2022/23 Premier League season, with a conversion rate of 16%.

However, just halfway through the 2023/24 season, these players have produced cold performances, churning out just 15 goals, with a conversion rate of 10%.

The performance of the Gunners attackers has had a massive influence on the team this campaign, as they sit 4th on the Premier League table with 20 points.

Mikel Arteta's side are 5 points away from league leaders, Liverpool, and their performances this season, don't give any signal that they have what it takes to win the league.

However, they can get their season back to a scorching path, if they reignite the fire which they had last season and display camaraderie.
