Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has voiced out saying members of ASUU may not find it easy to resume back to school.

He said while speaking about the recent Asuu strike that was called off, that they do not have “money for transport”.
This happened on Sunday, 16th of October.

To justify his words, he mentioned that the lecturers will be travelling from far and near as opposed to when they lived within the school premises, and to travelled down to the school, money for transport will be needed. He said this would pose as a challenge as they have not be paid since the strike started earlier this year, in February.

The ASUU president mentioned that the lecturers have no transport fare to go to work and these are challenges they will be facing once school resumes.

He mentioned that it is expected of the government that they pay the lecturers the money they have missed since February, that is their eight month salary.

He mentioned that he hopes the government will step up and settle the issue at hand. He hopes they would do this very soon so everything can take shape as this is one of the reasons they suspended the strike, the other being the court order.

He said that it shouldn't be expected that a lecturer who has been owed salary of eight months and is probably in a tight situation financially to go to class and do his best to teach.
