The duo began their quarrel over 17 years ago and this was because of a sum of N30,000. AY revealed that Basketmouth had owned him and refused to pay and this led to further misunderstanding that was never cleared up. He revealed this in an interview some time ago and Basketmouth had also gone on an interview and revealed that they were never friends.

AY who then had a recent interview with Teju Babyface revealed that he won't be making efforts to reconcile the fight anymore.

He was asked if some senior colleagues knew of the fight and AY said yes. He says they had even advised him to stop trying to force it if Basketmouth isn't forthcoming.
They told him he was doing too much and friendship wasn't by force.

He says he kept believing it would work but it all below up in his face when Basketmouth was saying they were not friends.
He says now he doesn't mind if he has to go to his grave without sitting with any of these guys (Basketmouth) to say ‘hello or ‘hi,’. He says he will be happy.
