AY reveals what caused the fight between himself and Basketmouth
Popular Nigerian comedian AY has revealed the cause of the fight between himself and Basketmouth to be N30,000.
Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian is a movie producer and a Comedian and he has shared what transpired between himself and Basketmouth in a long time beef.
AY mentioned how Basketmouth used to help him when he first got started in the business and would connect him with events.
He mentioned that it was a particular event that caused the issue between them.
He mentioned all this during an interview with Chude Jideonwo.
He added that Basketmouth would receive jobs like weddings and sometimes they would be multiple jobs in one day.
He would attend one and then leave to go to the next and then he had the opportunity to stand in for him. This was in 2006.
He mentioned how he appreciates that till today.
One faithful day, he had to stand in for Basketmouth and his cut was usually 30k which meant a lot to him then as it would feed him and help him buy some necessities.
He said when he went for the job, the people weren't too happy to see him because they were expecting Basketmouth. Eventually they were pleased with his performance and they exchanged contacts.
After 2 weeks, he hadn't received his payment and he was starving. He then asked Basketmouth who said they hadn't paid the money because they weren't happy.
He was confused since the person told him he was happy. Then he contacted them wondering what was going on and why they hadn't paid his 'Oga' (Basketmouth) only to hear they had paid long before the event.
Then he forwarded their messages to the other and eventually a fight broke out.
AY mentioned he had no plans to get back at Basketmouth but he was hungry and wanted to get to the root of the matter.
Videos of Basketmouth speaking about this beef prior to this interview surfaced and they show him saying AY had ruined their relationship by divulging private information to a third party.
He mentioned he was strong on loyalty but AY had messed it up.
