Ivan Rakitic has informed officials at Sevilla alongside his teammates that he is on the brink of joining Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab.

Rakitic has accepted the offer from Saudi Arabia and he will become the latest football star to move to the country.

In a period where many players are considering their decision to move to the Saudi Pro League, Ivan Rakitic appears to be unfazed and undeterred by the narrative.

Reports from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claim that medicals for the Croatian midfielder have been booked this weekend and Rakitic is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday, January 29, 2024.

The Barcelona legend wasn't included in Sevilla's squad for their clash against Osasuna on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

This is due to the midfielder's impending move to Saudi Arabia, which is expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.

Ivan Rakitic joined Sevilla from Barcelona on September 1, 2020, for a fee of €3.5 million.

The ex-Schalke 04 man has had two stints at Sevilla, and it appears it is the perfect time for him to exit the club and ultimately European club football.

The 35-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Spanish side this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

Cumulatively, Rakitic has made 323 appearances for Sevilla, scoring 51 goals and providing 63 assists in all competitions.

He has played for several clubs in his career, including; FC Nordstern Basel, FC Basel 1893, FC Schalke 04, and FC Barcelona.

Ivan Rakitic is a technically gifted player and a complete playmaker with outstanding qualities.

The 35-year-old is in the twilight of his career and as such, he can't pull the strings he once pulled regularly.

Rakitic has won many trophies in his career, including; 4 La Liga titles, 1 UEFA Champions League, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

Ivan Rakitic was amongst the Croatian squad that made it to the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, only to lose in the final to a star-studded French side.

However, he was impressive during the tournament, helping his nation throttle forward to immense heights.

Internationally, Rakitic has made 106 appearances for Croatia, scoring 15 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, despite the Saudi Pro League being under the spotlight in recent months regarding the well-being of players, Ivan Rakitic is keen on being the latest football star moving to the country.

Jordan Henderson reportedly exited Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq due to several factors that border on cultural shock, lack of mention, and climatic conditions to mention but a few.

Karim Benzema has also been in the news recently, with reports claiming that he could also be heading back to Europe due to him having a rift with the Al Ittihad hierarchy.
