Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has confirmed his next plan as he prepares to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.
Xavi Hernandez revealed he will be stepping down as Barcelona manager when the season comes to a close as pressure cranks up on him following the club's poor performances this season.
There have been speculations on his next stop when he exits the Culers' dugout in June 2024. In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Xavi confirmed he will not be under duress to take up another job but will take time to be with his family before returning to football management.
"I will rest for a bit after this season. My family have been suffering a lot with me in this tenure. I want to be with them."
Xavi joined Barcelona in 2021 from Qatar club Al-Saad, signing a two-year contract. He led the club to the La Liga title and Spanish Super Cup in his second season. Following a promising stint with the Catalans, he was tied down to a new two-year contract until 2025.
With Barcelona's falling domestic fortunes this season, Xavi had come under intense pressure leading to his decision to leave at the end of the season despite having two years remaining on his contract.
Before his decision to resign, Xavi had hinted he would step down if Barcelona ended the season trophyless. After losing the Spanish Super Cup final and crashing out of Copa Del Rey, the Culers' trophy hopes is apparently infeasible, hence his decision to leave.
Barcelona have reportedly begun the guest for his successor at the end of the season.
