Kylian Mbappe is closing in on a move to Real Madrid from PSG. It will be one of the biggest transfers in the summer, ending a long-running tussle between PSG and Real Madrid for the services of the player.

Real Madrid have been on the trail of Kylian Mbappe since 2021 and were reportedly close to brokering a deal before PSG outran them and tied the player to a new three-year contract which is set to expire at the end of the season.

It is understood PSG were still interested in keeping Kylian Mbappe but could not run over the odds and hurdles to tie down the player this time.

The 25-year-old told the club he will leave at the end of the season, calling to an end a legendary six-year spell with the French giants.

Now, the conversation has shifted from Kylian Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid to how the club will manage their dressing room with Mbappe added to the star-studded lineup.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes Real Madrid will have a problem integrating Kylian Mbappe into their dressing room.

For context purposes, Laporta thinks Kylian Mbappe's wages may cause a split in the club's dressing room and they could also have to sell players as well to keep Mbappe.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Joan Laporta said;

“I don’t envy Real Madrid for Mbappé as new signing…”.

“This distorts the dressing room, for sure”.

“You have to sell a player, don't you? Because they're not going to play in the same place…”, told Mundo Deportivo.

According to reports, Kylian Mbappe will share a wage cap with the top-earning players in the squad. However, he will be handed more leeway on his image rights than other players.

This means Mbappe will earn more from his image rights than other players, enough to send his wages sky-high above others.

Another pressing item Real Madrid will sort out with the signing of Kylian Mbappe is their attacking lineup. Kylian Mbappe plays as a forward. He has been deployed both as a central striker and winger.

There are projections Real Madrid players like Rodrygo may be sacrificed on the bench for Kylian Mbappe to be chiseled into the Los Blancos attacking setup when he arrives.

While Laporta may be right with his projections on the arrival of Mbappe at Real Madrid, his contribution seems inauthentic coming from an administrator of Real Madrid's biggest rival.
