Bayern Munich have released a statement ascertaining the status of Harry Kane's injury amid fears of a season-ending layoff for the player.
Kane sustained a gruesome injury during Bayern Munich's 5-2 Bundesliga victory over Darmstadt.
The Bavarians would have been six goals better than the relegation battlers with a near-miss which bounced off the crossbar.
Harry Kane was on the chase of the rebound, trying to slot it into the net when he missed the ball and crashed into the goalpost.
His ankle was twisted due to the accidental collision and had to be subbed off. It wasn't looking good for the prolific goalscorer as he limped off the field to the bench.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed Kane had broken his ankle and had to be subbed off as a precautionary measure to manage the injury and prevent it from getting worse.
Freund also added Harry Kane may not be allowed to link up with England national team due to the injury blow.
However, following a medical assessment of the injury, the club have confirmed Kane will be allowed to join England national team for the upcoming international break but will be placed on treatment by the team in collaboration with the club.
The club statement also revealed Kane had sustained an ankle injury on his left ankle but not enough to bar him from joining the national team for the international break.
The Bavarians' club statement reads;
"Harry Kane has. sustained an injury to his left ankle. “The striker has traveled to the national team, where. he will be treated in close coordination with the club”
Harry Kane has been Gareth Southgate's main man in the attack and was included in the Three Lions 25-man squad for March international friendlies against Brazil on March 23 and Belgium on March 26.
Kane will hope to return to full fitness ahead of the double-header friendly. However, if he tarries on full recovery, Southgate will be left with no option but to play Brentford forward Ivan Toney or Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.
