Nigeria's anti-graft agency, Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrests Zenith, Providus, Jaiz bank CEOs over involvement in Beta Edu's N582M fraud.

This is coming after the Federal Government ordered a probe of the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Beta Edu and Sadiya Umar-Farouq. The EFCC invited Walter Akpani of Providus Bank, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu of Zenith Bank, and Haruna Musa of Jaiz Bank for questioning.

In a recent development, the bank CEOs released some documents of accounts operated by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs under the supervision of Beta Edu to the EFCC for further investigation. The agency also interrogated them for the illegal diversion of public funds into private accounts using their channel.

The bank CEOs were released immediately after they met with the EFCC at their headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. Presently, the suspended minister Beta Edu, and the CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu are still being held by the EFCC.
