Championship Side Birmingham City sacked manager Wayne Rooney after 15 matches in charge of the club.
The former English striker was appointed on October 11, 2023, after Birmingham City sacked John Eustace despite being in 6th place in the Championship Table.
Since Rooney was appointed as the manager of Birmingham City, they have moved from 6th place to 20th position in the Championship Table. Birmingham City suffered nine defeats in 15 matches.
Professional development coach Steve Spooner will be the interim manager before the club consider appointing a new manager.
Birmingham City are currently six points clear of relegation ahead of the FA Cup third round on January 6, 2024, against Hull City.
They are going to face three big matches in the championship before the end of the January transfer window.
Birmingham City will play against Stoke, Swansea, and Middlesbrough before the transfer window ends.
It was assumed that Rooney was going to continue moving the club forward, but Birmingham City do not seem to be patient with the latest loss coming against Leeds United.
What Wayne Rooney Said After He Was Sacked by Birmingham City
After the manager got sacked, he moved straight to his X account to reveal how he felt about the sacking.
He said, "I would like to thank (co-owners) Tom Wagner and Tom Brady and (chief executive) Garry Cook for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City and the support they all gave me during my short period with the club.
"However, time is the most precious commodity a manager requires, and I do not believe 13 weeks was sufficient to oversee the changes that were needed. Personally, it will take me some time to get over this setback."
"I have been involved in professional football, as either a player or manager, since I was 16.”
“Now, I plan to take some time with my family as I prepare for the next opportunity in my journey as a manager."
Wayne Rooney is not the worst manager in the history of Birmingham City. Gianfranco Zola was the manager of Birmingham City in 2016–17. He won two matches out of 22 in the championship.
Football clubs Wayne Rooney has managed

After that, he moved to D.C. United on July 12, 2022. Wayne was sent out of the club after failing to qualify for the play-offs in the second season.
On October 11, 2023, he was chosen as the new manager of Birmingham, but he was sacked shortly after showing off poor managerial performance.
