Boat conveying 100 people capsizes in Kwara state
A boat which was conveying 100 people in Kwara State has capsized.
The incident happened in Egbu village, in the Patigi Local Government Area in kwara state.
The boat which was carrying 100 wedding guests had been traveling along the River Niger.
They were returning from the website ceremony on Monday when they sad incident happened.
The Governor of kwara state, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has expressed his sadness over this sad News.
A statement was released on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The Governor sympathized with the families of the victims and also the community where this incident occurred.
He expressed his sadness over this sad incident which happened.
The boat accident involved residents of Dzakan, Kpada, Sampu, Ebu and Kuchalu which is in Patigi.
The governor then sent his condolences to these people and prayed that Allah will repose the souls of the victims.
The governor is also involved in monitoring the rescue efforts which are being carried out in hopes of there being survivors.
He also commended the local authority who responded quickly and began rescue operations.
At the moment, the police are yet to confirm how many people have died but we know that about a 100 were on board.
