The notorious Boko Haram insurgents have evaded the Chibok community in Borno State once again. Their latest attack on the community was on Tuesday, which reportedly led to the death of two people while many were feared injured.

Recall that Chibok was in the news in 2014 after the insurgents abducted over 300 students at the Government Girls Secondary School. Residents of the Chibok community disclosed that the new attack launched by the Boko Haram insurgents took place around 7 pm. Gunshots were sporadically fired which left many residents running for safety and getting injured in the process. They carted away food items and burnt the homes of the residents, leaving many without shelter.

A local identified as Moses Adamu narrated how he and several others had spent the night in a bush due to fear of getting killed, while some found shelter in the neighboring community. Adamu said he was certain that two lives were lost due to the gunshots but there could be more loss which hasn't been ascertained yet.

The sudden evasion of the Chibok community was confirmed by the Borno Police Command. Their spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth, said that the Police sprung into action immediately after they received the news. He further stated that they teamed up with the military and the local vigilante to secure the Chibok community.

He added that two persons whose names were Mr. Badi a 75-year-old man, and Ngule, a 45-year-old lost their lives in the attack.
