
The Federal government has announced that President Bola Tinubu will launch the household program today, October 17. This program is one of the government plans to reduce the effect felt by the removal of fuel subsidy. 15 million Nigerian households are expected to benefit from this move made by the FG.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, disclosed the FG’s plan to begin the transfer program which 15 million households are expected to benefit from this October.
She made this announcement in an interview with Arise TV on the Progress Report on Nigeria’s participation at the 78th United Nations General Assembly meeting.
She said,
- We had meetings with the World Bank and very soon, we will announce the upscale of the national safety net program which will be putting funds in the pocket of over 15 million households in Nigeria.
- These are tangible funds that people can use to start businesses and improve their lives. This will be happening next month October.
- We’ll initiate an expanded and upscaled social safety net program designed to reach a lot of households in Nigeria.
