BREAKING: Nigerians to Own Shares in Dangote’s $20 Billion Refinery!

In a major development that could redefine local participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has announced that Nigerians will soon be able to own shares in his $20 billion Dangote Refinery located in Lekki, Lagos.

Dangote made this exciting revelation during the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Markets, organized by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in collaboration with S&P Global Insights in Abuja.

️ “Very soon, the refinery will be listed to give all Nigerians the opportunity to become shareholders,” Dangote stated, adding that the company is open to partnerships with governments, private investors, and institutions across Africa.

Why This Matters:
• Massive Economic Inclusion: Ordinary Nigerians will have the chance to invest and earn from the largest single-train refinery in the world.
• Boost to Capital Market: The listing could significantly increase market activity and deepen retail investor participation.
• Pan-African Vision: Dangote emphasized that Africa must refine what it consumes, reducing reliance on foreign imports.

Refining for Africa, By Africa

Dangote reiterated that the goal is not just about business, but about transforming the continent:

“Africa should refine all the petroleum products it consumes right here on the soil of Africa.”

He also addressed misconceptions about monopoly:

“Too many who could have invested in Nigeria chose to criticize while taking their money abroad. We have chosen to bet on Nigeria and will continue to do so.”

LPG & Clean Cooking Energy

The refinery isn’t just about petrol and diesel. Dangote disclosed that:
• 2,500 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are being produced daily to support clean cooking and reduce dependence on firewood and kerosene.

Final Words from Dangote:

“Others should be encouraged to build refineries too. That’s the job of the government and the NMDPRA.”

What’s Next?
As the refinery prepares for its public listing, Nigerians are encouraged to stay alert and position themselves to become part-owners of this historic infrastructure. This is not just a refinery — it’s a symbol of economic self-reliance and transformation.
