Nigerian singer Anthony Ebuka Victor aka Victony has advised his fellow artists to build a solid fan base instead of chasing hit songs.
In a recent interview, Victony spoke about how artists accept defeat when they realize that their songs aren't doing well on the charts. He said the team may not be able to tell the artist that his songs aren't doing well because they wouldn't want to send him into a depressed state.
Victony stated that in most cases, they have to pretend as if everything is alright and move on from it. Victony advised that the most important thing every artist should have is a solid fan base rather than hit songs.
"If you chase this hit and you're number one today, when you're not number one tomorrow, what will happen? It's the fans that will eat whatever you dish out. It's your priority to satisfy them.", he added.
