Bus catches fire in India, kills 25 people.
A bus which caught fire in India recently has claimed the lives of 25 people.
Other than the 25 who were killed, 8 more were injured.
The bus caught fire after midnight/overnight on Saturday. The police revealed that this had happened on an expressway in western India.
The bus was going to Pune City when the accident happened. The bus hit a pole and then overturned. After the vehicle overturned, the diesel tank caught fire and this led to the disaster.
It was the senior police officer Baburao Mahamuni who revealed this.
He mentioned that there had been about 30-35 people on the bus.
Out of this number, 25 people died while 8 were injured.
The bus driver was also injured and he alongside the other injured victims have been taken to the hospital. The hospital is close to the accident scene.
The police also revealed that they have begun an investigation into this case. He revealed that they need to work on identifying the bodies that were burnt and then hand them over to their family.
Among the 25 people who died, there were 3 children among them. The other 22 are adults.
It was one of the police officers who revealed this to newsmen.
The Prime minister, Narendra Modi also revoked how sad he was about the incident. He then sent his condolences to the victims and their families. He prayed for speedy recovery for the victims.
The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde also shared his condolences. He then went ahead to pledge a sum of 500,000 rupees ($6,100) as compensation to the families of the deceased.
He also revealed that the main cause of this accident was excessive speed. He also said not using seatbelts, helmets etc were also causes.
